Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of the SalahMode mobile application ("the App") on Android and iOS (including iPadOS). By installing or using SalahMode, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't install or use the App.

1. The Service

SalahMode is a freemium mobile application that provides:

  • Five daily Islamic prayer times calculated for your location
  • Qibla direction compass
  • Local notifications and reminders for prayer times
  • Hijri calendar
  • A Prayer Mode focus screen
  • Optional features unlockable via paid subscriptions or a one-time lifetime purchase ("Premium")

2. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

SalahMode offers the following paid options:

  • Premium Monthly — auto-renewing subscription
  • Premium Yearly — auto-renewing subscription
  • Founding Supporter — one-time non-consumable purchase, lifetime access

All purchases are processed by Google LLC through Google Play Billing (on Android) or Apple Inc. through the App Store (on iOS). Pricing, billing, refunds, and account management are subject to your Google account or Apple ID terms.

Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless cancelled before the end of the period (Google Play and Apple require cancellation at least 24 hours before renewal). You can manage or cancel subscriptions anytime in your store account settings:

Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
iOS:     Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions

Treffas AB does not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds. Refund requests must be made through the platform you purchased on:

The free tier of SalahMode always includes accurate prayer times, Qibla, and one daily Prayer Mode session. Core prayer functionality is never placed behind a paywall.

3. Intellectual Property

The App, including its source code, design, logos, content, audio recordings, and all related materials, is the property of Treffas AB and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, decompile, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the App
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the App
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices

You receive a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Android and Apple devices you own or control.

4. Privacy and Data

Your use of SalahMode is also governed by our Privacy Policy: https://salahmode.com/privacy-policy

In summary:

  • Location data is used only to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction. Location is not linked to your identity or sold to third parties.
  • Anonymous app usage events are collected via Firebase Analytics for product improvement.
  • No personal data, contacts, photos, or messages are accessed.

5. Third-Party Services

6. Service Availability

We strive to keep the App reliable and accurate, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability or absolute accuracy of prayer times. Prayer time calculations depend on:

  • Accurate location data from your device
  • Your selected calculation method (MWL, ISNA, Umm al-Qura, etc.)
  • Internet access (for some features such as the mosque finder)

You're responsible for verifying prayer times against your local mosque or trusted scholar when in doubt. Treffas AB is not responsible for missed prayers, schedule discrepancies, or reliance on the App for religiously sensitive timing.

7. App Updates and Changes

We may release updates to fix bugs, improve features, or comply with platform requirements. Some updates may change features or remove functionality. We may also discontinue the App or any feature without notice, though we'll make reasonable efforts to communicate significant changes.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Treffas AB and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to: missed prayers, incorrect prayer times, loss of data, device issues, or third-party service failures.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law (such as gross negligence or willful misconduct).

9. Termination

Treffas AB may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time for violations of these Terms or applicable law. You may stop using the App and delete it from your device at any time. Termination does not refund any active subscription period; refunds are governed by Google Play's or Apple's policies depending on where the purchase was made.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Sweden, except where applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. The "Effective date" at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the App or via the App Store listing.
